The GAMMS coordinator, Ismael Colomina from Geonumerics, presented the project within the framework of the EGENIOUSS project, funded by EUSPA, as part of the Workshop World Café activity. The presentation was hosted by the Centro Español de Logística (CEL) at its facilities in Coslada. The GAMMS presentation was an excellent opportunity to show how these projects can collaborate to improve navigation and localization in complex urban environments.
The GAMMS presentation was given within the framework of this workshop, where it was highlighted the advances in the development of a mapping robot for geodata acquisition and an AI-based highly automated mapping software to produce HD maps from the MMS remote sensing data.
The EGENIOUSS project focuses on developing a real-time visual localization framework for satellite navigation, aiming to improve the accuracy and robustness of positioning in complex urban environments. This project seeks to standardize EGNSS (European Global Navigation Satellite System) technologies and visual localization, with applications in sectors such as transportation, logistics, and smart cities.
The EGENIOUSS initiative addresses the challenges of navigation in urban areas, where traditional satellite signals can be unreliable. The integration of a visual localization service in the cloud combined with EGNSS enhances the precision and reliability of operations, enabling more reliable navigation for autonomous vehicles and drones. This facilitates applications such as last-mile delivery and environmental monitoring. Additionally, the use of drones has a positive impact on sustainability by reducing carbon emissions associated with traditional transportation methods.
